Competitions & Opportunities

  • Competition not only exposes dancers to the full world of highland, but also teaches dancers discipline, consequence, and sportsmanship.

• Once your dancer is ready to compete, you are able to register at competitions all over the world. You can enter competitions that suit your schedule and goals.

  • Dancers who compete make friends all over!

• The instructor makes an effort to travel to competitions, but in Highland, it is very common for dancers to compete without their teacher present.

  • Your dancer will be well prepared to be independent on competition day!

Registering: It is your responsibility to enter your dancer properly and on time, but this does not mean you are on your own! Reach out with any questions. Be sure to inform the instructor of all competition plans, so your dancer can be adequately prepared.

Performances: These are usually organized by the instructor and all necessary information will be provided. Our main performance is usually at Bright Lights Windsor. If you have any suggestions for performance opportunities, please reach out!

Dance Exams: These are usually held at a studio in twice a year and are a great opportunity for dancers to measure their progress. Dancers will be entered by their instructor at the appropriate level. They perform for a judge in full costume but are not competing. It is measured to a standard. Dancers receive judge feedback. This is a fantastic opportunity for competitive and recreational dancers. Dancers are awarded a medal and certificate for each test they successfully complete, and can work toward becoming a teacher!
